Foundation Award to Furry Foster

Furry Foster event 1

Very few would argue that our country suffers from an inordinately high population of homeless pets. Current estimates put the number of pets entering shelters between 6-8 million. Less than half of these animals are adopted.

For the last few years, we’ve published monthly reports about small-to-medium size rescue groups doing their utmost to deal with the crisis. Which is why it brings us great pleasure to announce funding for an innovative rescue start-up that seeks to change the future. More...

Rules are Made to be Broken

There's one rule in this house ... the dog is not allowed on the bed. What the pet parents couldn't figure out was, why was there so much dog hair on the bed every time they came home from work. So, clever people that they are, they set up a video camera to find out.

You can probably guess what comes next ... but not how much fun the pup has when breaking the rules.

Foundation Award Grant to Sierra’s Haven

We’re pleased to bring you news of yet another financial award given by Dr. Jane’s HealthyPetNet Foundation, this time to an inspirational group of animal rescuers in Ohio.

Located in Portsmouth, Sierra’s Haven for New & Used Pets represents the best available option for their county’s homeless animals. Situated on 50 acres, their operation is housed in a 5,653-square-foot building with the capacity to comfortably shelter hundreds of animals.

Since opening in 2006, Sierra's Haven has made a tremendous difference in the lives of thousands of animals, many of whom were once strays in desperate need of medical attention. Regardless of condition, the group treats every dog and cat with care and respect, and aims to find each animal the perfect forever home. More...

Foundation Award to Paws South Florida Rescue

Starting an animal rescue is a much bigger endeavor than most people think. Some groups lack the resources to make it through the first year of service. This is why, when a small, tight-knit group of people unite to not only create a functional rescue, but also demonstrate a willingness to tackle big problems, you know you have something special. Beagle Finagles Her Way to Oven-Baked Goodies

Lucy the beagle definitely knows her way around the kitchen.

This clever pup exhibits serious skill at claiming her next meal (apparently, a batch of chicken nuggets). Not content to move furniture at-will in order to leap up on kitchen countertops, she’s also proficient at removing pans from the toaster oven.

You’ll be amazed by how this dexterous pup pulls a reverse dine-and-dash, using her noodle to get the nuggets. We caution our canine viewers … do not try this at home. Oven, hot!

Lucy is the pet kid of Rodd Scheinerman, who originally uploaded the video last July. According to the proud pet parent’s YouTube comments, he wondered why paw prints kept appearing on the countertops. With a little detective work, he certainly got his answer!
